Supporting Georgia during COVID-19

May 19, 2020, 09:30 by Caralin Stepp

A global health pandemic might change our way of life, but our focus remains the same: our customers, our employees, and the communities we serve. In addition to taking the precautions needed to keep our employees safe, we’ve focused on the needs of fellow Georgians. Making a difference in the lives of our community is at the heart of what we do at SCANA Energy, and that’s why we've donated a total of $45,000 across these six organizations to aid coronavirus relief efforts. Keep reading for ways you can help your neighbors, too.

The United Way of Greater Atlanta COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund is being used to help those in the Greater Atlanta area who are the most vulnerable during this time. They are providing health services, childcare, food, emergency assistance, and other critical needs.

ATL Family Meal provides food to out-of-work hospitality staff while supporting local restaurants and farmers who may be struggling during this time.

Giving Kitchen serves Georgia’s foodservice community by providing emergency assistance to restaurant workers through financial support and connecting them to community resources.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACF) is working tirelessly to keep meals on the table for seniors, children and families impacted by the coronavirus throughout the community.

The Farmer Fund usually focuses on providing relief after natural disasters, but recently formed a coalition of Georgia’s local food organizations to provide COVID-19 support for local farmers.

With many people sheltering in place and seniors experiencing increased health risks due to the coronavirus pandemic, Meals on Wheels is providing much-needed relief. The organization provides nourishing meals to low-income and homebound seniors in Atlanta who are unable to afford or access adequate nutrition.

SCANA Energy invests in the community we serve and believes that we can get through these difficult times together. It’s important to be good neighbors and make a difference for those in need.
