SCANA Energy's Second Annual Day of Service

Apr 28, 2023, 10:00 by Caralin Stepp

On April 27, SCANA Energy partnered with United Way of Greater Atlanta for the company’s annual Day of Service. More than two dozen volunteers from the organizations worked together to build, decorate, and pack 200 shoeboxes filled with toiletries for homeless individuals in Atlanta. In addition to a $5,000 donation to United Way, SCANA Energy purchased the supplies for the boxes. United Way immediately distributed the boxes to representatives of Save Our Students Academy and Emerald Care International after the event as part of their ShoeBox Project campaign.

United Way works with community partners to improve child well-being across the 13 greater Atlanta counties. Their four main pillars of transformation include building strong leaders, preparing youth for careers, increasing economic stability for families, and creating brighter futures through equitable growth in the most challenged communities of the city.
